Online course or distance learning?

Judit Banfine Vas

Online course or distance learning, what's the difference?

Online courses: These courses are provided online in a virtual campus environment. Courses commonly start and end on fixed dates and you have to register by assigned registration dates. These courses commonly require a minimum number of participant and the students attend an online forum during specified weeks.

Distance learning:
Learning course materials are commonly provided online (or on CD's or DVD's), but the students do not have access to a virtual campus. Students communicate with a tutor by email, phone or instant messaging. You can register at any time and take the course according to your own time allocation.

We refer to the home page of the different courses for further information and details about learning methods. We take no responsibility for the quality or content of external websites.
