F-Secure Anti-Virus

All student are required to have an Anti-virus program. We recommend F-secure which you can get for free from UMB. The latest version may also be run on Windows Vista and Windows 7. NB! Never install more than one Anti-Virus program!

HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Download F-Secure
If your computer is not connected at UMB, you'll have to use VPN.

2. Disconnect your computer from the internet.

3. Uninstall your old Anti-Virus.

4. Restart your computer.

5. Install fsecureantivirus.msi and follow the instructions. At the end of the installation you will have to restart your computer again.

6. Connect your computer to the internet, and download updates for F-Secure (this may take some time).

IMPORTANT!!
REMOVE ALL TRACES OF PREVIOUS ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE YOU INSTALL F-SECURE ANTI-VIRUS. More than one Antivirusprogramme will cause serious problems!

F-Secure will not function together with ZoneAlarm!

How to uninstall Norton AV

If you use Norton antivirus, the following components must be removed trough add/remove programs (in Control Panel) before F-secure installation:
Livereg (symantec corporation), Livereg 2.x (symantec corporation), Norton antivirus 200x. If you experience problems with uninstalling Norton AntiVirus or it's components, you may have to run Norton remover

IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO USE THIS IF YOU CAN REMOVE IT THE NORMAL WAY TROUGH ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

If you are experiencing problems with removing other anti-virus software you can try accessing information on the homepage of the developer.

As a last resort you can visit our office in the Technical Department. Our openinghours are from 10am to 3pm monday to friday.

Then download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, a very effective program that removes malicious software from your computer. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware also contains FILEassassin that removes files that you for some reason can't delete in a normal way.
