Username and password

To get access to UMBs different it-services you will need a username and passwords. Your username will be automatically generated, but you'll have to create your own passwords.
To administrate your own passwords you have to login to
https://brukerdata.umb.no/en/passord. I is not possible to show your current password(s) on this page, but you can create a new one if you have forgotten your password(s).
UMB have two different password-zones that are referred to as zone 1 and zone 2. Each zone will give you access to different services:
- Zone 1: Login to computers in UMB computerlabs
- Zone 2: Webmail, >>fronter, eduroam, VPN, etc.
Login without zone 1 password
If you know your username and zone 1 passwordIf you remember your zone 1 password, you can login to
https://brukerdata.umb.no/en/passord with your username and password.
You'll then come to the page where you can create your passwords.
[4] This is your username. Which also serves as your student e-mail, username@student.umb.no.
[5] Here you select which password you want to create/change (zone 1 or zone2. You must manually switch between the zones every time.
[7] Here you enter your preferred password. Write the exact same password in both fields.
Password complexity requirements:- The password has to contain both small and captial letters in addition to numbers and/or signs.
- If you have only one captial letter, it cannot be in the first position
- If you have only one letter, it cannot be in the last position
- Each zone must have a unique password
[8] Click here to submit the password. You will get a message on green background when your password is accepted. If you get a message on red background, your password does not meet our requirements. Please try again.
[9] Remember to log out when you have created/changed your password(s).
Login without zone 1 passwordHere you enter your Norwegian Identity Number (the 11 digit number you were given at the Student Information Center) in field [1], then enter the letters from the picture [2] into the field and click "send".
On the next screen you will be told that a "one time password" has been sent to your mobilephone. This is true if you have registered your mobile on studentweb. If you are a new student, you can use the same PIN-code (four digits) that you use to login to studentweb.
Write the one time password or PIN-code in field 1, and click "logg in"
You will now get the
screen where you can create your new password(s).
If you are unable to login with either methods, please come by our office and we will provide you with a one-time-password manually. Please bring an ID-card with a picture.
