VPN

Studentenes datatjeneste

VPN is used to access the wireless network at UMB campus, and to get access to internal resources (intranet, BIBSYS recources, your home area etc.) while outside of UMB.

General VPN connection - student.vpn.umb.no

Due to a firewall, it is not possible to get access to UMBs internal network from outside of campus. A VPN connection can allow a user to create a "tunnel" trough the firewall. This requires that you already have a general internet connection.

With the VPN connection you get access to UMBs intranet. Meaning you may read your mail with a mail-client, access you homearea with NetStorage or FTP, in addition to reading internal websites and use BIBSYS.

To log on to student.vpn.umb.no you should use your regular loginname and zone2 password.
