The Anniversary Conference on Thursday, 28 May 2009 is one of the highlights of the 150-year celebrations at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
The Anniversary Conference - FOOD 2009 will provide a meeting place where knowledge and views can be discussed and exchanged. The theme of the conference is food in the widest sense of the term. Food will be addressed from both the social science and the natural science aspects, and focus on national as well as international perspectives.
Our own scientists and distinguished guests will be speakers. Key words for the conference are: The global food system, Abundance and Scarcity, Hunger and Food security, Resources, Environment, Food capitalism, Obesity, Consumer power, Techno-food, Food that kills, Food and dignity.
As the key words indicate, we will be addressing the challenges that lie in securing all people at all times access to sufficient and healthy food.
We have the pleasure to invite politicians, public administrators, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, alumni, researchers and students to an interesting and thought provoking day at Ås Campus.
The conference is organised in cooperation between the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB), Nofima (research institute within the areas of food and aquaculture), Bioforsk - the Norwegian Institue for Agricultural and Environmental Research, and Norsk institutt for skog og landskap (The Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute).
