Election of new Rector at UMB

Av Valgstyret

UMB will elect a new Rector in May. The election is open to internal and external candidates. Each candidate must be nominated by five eligible voters. This is therefore a golden opportunity for you and your colleagues to influence the choice of UMB's new Rector.

The term of office for the new Rector will be from 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2013. This coincides with the term of office for the Joint Board of the UMB-NVH.

External and internal candidates

The Election Regulations
(in Norwegian only, English translation coming soon) contains regulations for how a candidate should be nominated and who may be nominated.

Voting staff and students have the right to nominate candidates. Paragraph 11.3 of the election regulations state that proposals must be signed by at least five eligible voters. Voters may not sign more than one nomination.

In the event of the nomination of a candidate who is not employed by the University (external candidate), the nomination must be accompanied by a written letter of consent signed by the nominee. Such consent may not be withdrawn.
