80 new study places for UMB

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences has been allotted 80 new study places in the revised National Budget of 15.05.09.


The new study places will be available from the Autumn. This means that several applicants will be accepted at the university. The Rector and the Director of Studies at UMB are extremely pleased that Parliament is investing in higher education and that UMB's study portfolio is in demand. "This is fantastically good," said the Rector, Knut Hove The Director of Studies, Siri Margreth Løksa share his oppinion. "This is considerably more study places than we usually get. An unbelievably important investment." The new study places at UMB will be divided amongst several study programmes, including the master's programme in Technology, bachelor's programme in Energy and Environmental Physics, master's programme in Public Health and bachelor's programme in Renewable Energy. UMB has a solid reserve list of first priority applicants for all these study programmes  The government has decided that 3 800 new study places shall be established at universities and academic colleges nationally from Autumn 2009. In addition, the basic allocation to the higher educational institutions is increased to 80 million NOK to compensate somewhat for having lagged behind.
