Noragric mourns the loss of esteemed colleague.
Henrik Mikkelsen
Noragric is saddened to announce the death of Professor Carl-Erik Schulz who lost his life in a hiking accident on Table Mountain, South Africa, on Sunday 30 November.
Professor Schulz started at Noragric on 1 September as Professor in Development Studies and was responsible for the Master’s programme in Development Studies. An economist by training, Prof. Schulz's interests and background were in international trade policy linked to development issues, and the effects of globalisation on the rural poor. Among others, he has lectured at the University of Oslo, the University of Tromsø and at the University of Western Cape, South Africa.
Carl-Erik was a warm and well-liked person with a good sense of humour. Highly respected professionally, he will be deeply missed by Noragric staff, students and many other colleagues at UMB. Our thoughts go to his family during this difficult time.
A memorial service at UMB will be held on Wednesday 10 December at 12h00 in the Economy building (Økonomibygning).
