PhD student Thea Morken and scientist Vegard Denstadli from APC/IHA received their awards in fierce competition with the international research community on fish nutrition, at “The 14th international symposium on fish nutrition and feeding (ISFNF)” which was held in Quingdao, China from May 31st to June 4th 2010.

Close to 700 participants from all over the globe were gathered at the conference, which included topics all over the range, from molecular biology to feed processing.
Younger scientist award PhD student Thea Morken received the “Younger scientist award” for her poster and lecture entitled “Effect of sodium diformate and extruder temperature on nutrient digestibility in rainbow trout fed barley protein concentrate-based diets”.
The results presented in the lecture are based on an experiment carried out at Bozeman, Montana, in cooperation with the US Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Research Service, ADDCON Nordic AS and APC.
Best poster Scientist Vegard Denstadli received the award for “Best poster”, in competition with almost 400 posters. The poster, entitled “Enzyme pretreatment of high fibre plant ingredients and effects on feed utilization in rainbow trout” is based on an experiment conducted in Denmark, in a cooperative effort between BioMar, DSM Nutritional Products and Novozymes.
