Bachelor in Horse Science at Oslo Horse Show
Janne Karin Brodin
Among the plethora of harnesses, jodhpurs, horse boxes and everything else a rider and horse could wish for, UMB provided the only offer on education within the equestrian sciences at Oslo Horse Show. Not odd at all, since UMB’s Bachelor in Horse Science is unique.
Students Liv-Tonje Lian, PhD student in horse sciences Hilde Hauge and students Rannveig Dalastøyl Jensen and Heidi Nilsson were among those who spent the week at Oslo Horse Show recruiting new students.

An education not only for “horsy girls”Under the motto “Help give the equestrian industries a boost”, 10 students from the 1st and 2nd years of the Bachelor in Horse Science had come to market their chosen education. And the interest was massive, especially during the weekend.
–Just now a mother came by. Having seen us and read about the education, she came back with her daughter to get more information about this course of study, says student Rannveig Dalastøyl Jensen.
And is it not just the “horsy girls” who take an interest. The “horses are for racing” boys and others involved in the trade in various capacities also stop to have a chat.
Student Rannveig Dalastøyl Jensen isn't too skittish to stop the passers-by to give them a brochure and speak to them about the Bachelor programme

What is the Bachelor in Horse Science? This Bachelor program has met with a lot of positive attention from the equestrian industries. The students learn how theoretical knowledge within the main fields of feeding, breeding and ethology can be put to practical use through stints at equestrian establishments and through courses given at Norsk Hestesenter.
With the degree under her/his belt, the candidate will be able to give the equestrian industries a boost: they will be coming into the market with a weighty knowledge base which can be used in several arenas where the horse is an important player.
These bachelor students are quite simply taking part in putting the horse on the agenda and giving an added seriousness to the equestrian industries.
The Bachelor in Horse Science is given in Norwegian.
