Evaluation of krill meal as ingredients in diets for dogs and cats with mink as model animals
Three mink experiments are planned for the evaluation of product digestibility, nutritional and health aspect in the reproductive phase and in rapid growth.
The experimental procedures and necessary facilities are all well established at the experimental fur animal farm at Ås, Norway, a joint facility for the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (NVH) and the University of Life Sciences (UMB).
Mink have for many years served as model animals for evaluation of feed ingredients for carnivore animals including salmon and are characterized by high reproducibility as documented in numerous papers published over more than 40 years (Ahlstrøm et al. 2006; Aslaksen et al. 2006; Romarheim et al. 2005; Müller et al. 2005).
