MASTER STUDENTS
Started August 2010 - Lillian Gillesen is investigating whether DCs directly incubated with different types of bacteria are able to regulate the gene transcription in intestinal epithelial cells, and thereby their function. It is hypothesized that DCs will secrete specific sets of cytokines and chemokines dependent on the specific type of bacteria (probiotic, pathogenic or commensal) they are exposed to. Conditioned medium containing DC-derived signaling molecules will be collected and applied to the basolateral side of polarized
intestinal epithelial cells.
