Caroline Hägerhäll har sammen med sine kolleger i Skotland og Sverige satt i gang en ny web-studie om landskapspreferanser. De ber om at du benytter sjansen til å bidra til forskningen. Så delta i forsøket, det tar kort tid.

Studien er utviklet av Neil Sang på Macaulay Land Use Research Institute i Aberdeen, UK sammen med Åsa Ode ved SLU i Sverige og Caroline Hägerhäll ved ILP/UMB. Denne webstudien heter ”Study 1 Lake district”. Det foreligger en kort prosjektbeskrivelse på engelsk. Den følger nederst i teksten.

Fagmiljøet ønsker mange deltakere fra ulike miljøer, alle oppfordres til å gjennomføre web-studien og sende linken til så mange som mulig.

Prosjektet

” About the research: Why people value a beautiful landscape may be difficult to define, and even harder to value against other important functions, such as development for housing, or providing food and fuel. People have many different preferences for what makes a landscape beautiful, and yet there are commonalities reflected in the popularity of some places as tourist destinations, the effect of a beautiful view on the price of a house, or the decision to protect some places as national parks. The visual aspects of landscape have, therefore, important economic and social value, but the decision to protect a place or a view or to develop its potential, may also have economic and social costs. In order to make equitable decisions about how to manage our shared landscape, we need to better understand what about a view people value. What makes a view interesting or dull? Why protect one place or another? This survey is designed to help us understand more about how people view landscapes. As this is often difficult to put into words, the survey simply asks respondents to choose the most interesting image from pairs that we have selected. We then compare the number of respondents selecting one or other in each case, with particular aspects of the landscapes in each image. ”
