The Department of Economics and Resource Management at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) is organizing the next NCDE 18-19 June 2009 on Oscarsborg, an island in the Oslofjord.
Call for papers The conference aims at bringing together Nordic and international scholars for exchange of ideas and discussion of recent results within theoretical and applied development economics research. We particularly encourage young researchers based in the Nordic countries (independent of nationality) to submit papers on all topics within the field of development economics. Young researchers from the South are also encouraged to submit papers and participate. If their paper is approved, they may also apply for financial support to cover for travel and accommodation costs. The Nordic Conference in Development Economics (NCDE) is an annual event and this year features keynote speaker Klaus Deininger and Michael Carter.
Keynote Speakers Klaus Deininger is a Lead Economist in the rural development group of the Development Economics Group and land policy adviser in the Agriculture & Rural Development Department, at The World Bank.
Michael Carter is professor of agricultural and applied economics at the University of Wisconsin. He is also director of the BASIS Collaborative Research Support Program that studies rural poverty alleviation strategies in Africa, Asia and Latin American.
Paper submission Papers must be submitted in electronic form via email (as a pdf file). The paper submission deadline is extended to May 1, 2009.
