PhilSci Forum: Birger Svihus

Lars Mørk

Birger Svihus, Professor in nutrition at UMB, presents a lecture in the PhilSci Forum: "Epidemiological darkness - How fallacious causality conclusions within nutrition research make us obese and ill". Wednesday 25 May, 12:15 – 14:00, Room T401, Tårnbygningen, UMB. Birger Svihus will give his lecture in English.

To derive causality from correlation is a well-known mistake. Still, correlation data from epidemiological studies are widely used within nutrition research to draw causal conclusions regarding diet and health. In this lecture, Birger Svihus will argue for that nutritional conclusions should be based on experimental data, and not observational correlations.
