Ph.D. Agricultural and Applied Economics, University of Wisconsin-Madison
M.A. Economics, Boston University
I work in collaboration with numerous students and colleagues at UMB, my home institution (Purdue University, USA) and elsewhere. I conduct research on a range of topics related to poverty, economic development, and the environment in developing regions of the world. My current focus is to study dynamic processes of household land and labor allocation in marginally productive areas of the humid and semi-humid tropics. I study the interactions between poverty and environmental degradation, so as to help eliminate both.
I currently serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Agricultural Economics (http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/loi/AGEC) and Associate Editor of the journal Environment and Development Economics (http://www.cambridge.org/Journals/journal_catalogue.asp?mnemonic=EDE).
