I received a phd (dr. scient) in agricultural economics with a desertation on Norwegian economic history in 1989. I have been an associate professor since 1991 at UMB, and have mainly been teaching microeconomics and regional economics. From approximately 2003 to 2008 I was an adjunct associate professor at the University of Tromsø, teaching resource economics. From 1997 to 2009 I was in addition local representative of the Norwegian researchers' union. My current research interests are on understanding institutional change. I have so far mainly studied changes related to institutions governing Norwegian natural resources.
