December 7th, 14:00-15:30 at SKP auditorium
“The promises and pitfalls of molecular biology techniques in ecotoxicology”. Dr Eivind Farmen, NIVA
Emerging techniques in molecular biology offer exciting prospects within ecoloxicology. Genomics/proteomics and microarray techniques have been proposed as potential stress biomarkers as well as methods for elucidating the mechanisms underlying toxicity. The seminar will give an introduction to some of these techniques, and review their applications. Examples will be given from ongoing studies on ionising radiation and nanoparticle effects.

Dr Eivind Farmen is a research scientist at the section of Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment

The Research School on Ecotoxicology will serve pizza and refreshments after the seminar. Please inform Claire Coutris if you would like to participate.

December 17th: PhD student seminar, 9:00-17:00, SKP Auditorium
