The PhD student, in the Department of Plant and Life scienses, this month is Katinka Horgen Evensen.

Katinka Horgen Evensenstarted working at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (IPM) in February this year for the period 2009-12.
She is a part of the
Urban Horticulture and Urban Greening section, and the
research group Nature, Health and Quality of Life in Health UMB.
Katinka Horgen Evensen holds a degree in
psychology
from the University of Oslo from 2006 and has worked as an educational psychologist.
At IPM she works on
a project in environmental psychology. Research in environmental psychology explores the transactions between people and their physical environment.
In collaboration with post doc Ruth Kjærsti Raanaas, she looks at the impact of
nature elements in built environment on attention functioning in experimental studies. The project is based on
environmental psychological theory suggesting
health promoting effects of contact with nature, and relates to other ongoing research in environmental psychology at IPM (Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences ) and ILP (Dept. of Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning).
Supervisors: Associate professor Grete Patil, post doc Ruth Kjærsti Raanaas and post doc Caroline Hägerhäll.
