My basic education is from the University of Oslo (can.real) in genetics, my dr.agric. degree from UMB. As a research scientist and university professor I have experience from academic research organizations in Europe and the US. As a university professor, I have conducted research within plant molecular biology and biotechnology documented by publications in high ranked peer reviewed international journals. I have spent sabbatical leaves in the US as a visiting professor at UC Davis, Stanford and Cornell University. I have been advisor of undergraduate and graduate students as well as post.docs, and taught all level courses in molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology and biotechnology. From 2001 to 2008 I worked in the US plant biotechnology industry, first for Pioneer Hi-Bred international, a DuPont company as a Research Fellow and later for the Monsanto company, Biotech division, St.Louis, Missouri, USA. In addition to my research activities, I have participated actively in research administrations activities both in Norway as well as internationally. I am currently employed as a professor at the Norwegian University for Life Sciences and at Hedmark University college.
