Coffee Cup Project
Katharine Shiffler
Through the 'Coffee Cup' project, people in Ås invite international students home for a cup of coffee. The aim of the project is to remove barriers and prejudices by establishing new friendships between the diverse cultures and communities residing in Ås.
Every year hundreds of international students study at UMB. Many of them never visit a Norwegian home. This year we hope to change that.
Through the 'Coffee Cup' project, people in Ås invite international students home for a cup of coffee. The aim of the project is to remove barriers and prejudices by establishing new friendships between the diverse cultures and communities residing in Ås.
Sharing a cup of coffee with a member of the Ås community provides the perfect opportunity to learn and share your language, give and receive travel advice, share common interests in food, music and sports, and to ask for advice about living in Ås and Norway.
If you wish to participate in the 'Coffee Cup' project, please write a short email to
kaffekopp@umb.no, to sign up for the project and become connected with a host. Please specify in the mail whether you will visit alone, or bring a friend or family member.
Remember, everyone is welcome to participate and share a cup of coffee. It does not matter if you live alone or with your family, if you are German, Ghanaian, Norwegian, or a student living in a collective. Join in and be a part of the Ås community!
