Reference Management Tools - EndNote and Reference Manager
Ann Sogge and Ingeborg Hvaale
Software that enables you to store and manage all your references to books, articles, websites etc.
What is a reference management tool? A reference management tool enables you to develop databases of your own bibliographical references. Reference management software is also useful when writing articles, theses, etc. Such programmes make it easier to insert references in a manuscript and generate reference lists.
Site license for UMB's staff and students The University Library has an updated site license for Endnote (latest version: X6) and Reference Manager (latest version: 12). This means that staff and students at UMB have free access to these products. UMB's agreements also include the installation of these programmes on home computers.
Which reference management tool should I choose? We recommend:
- EndNote for students.
- EndNote or Reference Manager for PhD students and researchers.
