17th Nitrogen Cycle Meeting

Lars Bakken, Åsa Frostegård

Oslo, September 26-28, 2012

A preliminary program is available now: Preliminary program

The annual European Nitrogen Cycle Meetings have a long track record as an arena for encounters between disciplines in nitrogen research, ranging from enzymologists/biochemists to ecologists. The meetings have been an important arena for networking within and across disciplines.

The meetings have covered a range of topics within nitrogen research, but with a primary focus on the physiology, biochemistry, regulatory biology and ecology of microorganisms within functional groups such as nitrogen fixing, nitrifying, denitrifying and anoxic ammonia oxidizing prokaryotes. Young scientists are encouraged to present their research (oral or posters), providing an opportunity for constructive feedback from a curious, critical and friendly audience with profound knowledge.

Microbial N-transformations "lend themselves" to mathematical modeling/systems biology, and we encourage participants to present ideas and ongoing modeling efforts (few if any have been published so far!). We need progress in this direction, and will dedicate one session to this topic.

Forms for registration and abstract submission are available on this webpage (see links on the right side).

The upper limit of participants is  ~70.
