Cary Fowler about media covering the event 26 February

Webmaster

The final preparations for the opening ceremony are now being put in place here in Svalbard, building up to the moment when the first seeds will be placed on the Vault's shelves. I hope you manage to follow this momentous occasion.

-- Cary Fowler has been guest at NRK interviewed by Anne Grosvold about opening the Global Seed Vault (the Doomsday Vault) on Svalbard on the 26th of February 10.30am Video (Link from Frode)

-- About Svalbard Global Seed Vault (Wikipedia)

-- Joanna has received more information from Cary:

In my last message, I said that I would send some details on broadcasts as they became available. Firm details for news programmes are never easy to obtain in advance, but below are some of the broadcasts we know about.

• Today in North America the vault will be covered on ABC's World News Tonight, and on CBC radio and TV.
• CNN will be running the story from today.
• BBC, in the UK and internationally, will be running the story today and into tomorrow on TV and radio.
• Tomorrow morning ABC's Good Morning America and NBC's Today Show will feature the story.
• And though we do not have programme details, we believe the coverage will be truly global: other crews here include Germany's ARD and ZDF, Tokyo Broadcasting Company, Fuji TV, Sky News, Russian State Television, Nation TV from Kenya, Agence France Presse, Reuters, AP to name a selection. In addition, a number of important European papers are represented.
