Lectures given by Dr. Brian Child, University of Florida, and Dr. Ivan Bond, IIED Oct 18

Dr. Brian Child, University of Florida, and Dr. Ivan Bond, IIED, will give two separate lectures on Wednesday 18 October between 9:15 and 12 at Noragric/UMB (Thor Larsen meeting room in attic).


Dr Brian Child will talk from 9:15 - 10:00 about "Community Based
Natural Resource Management and Interdisciplinary Research Challenges in
Southern Africa". Dr. Child is Associate Professor at the Centre for
African Studies and Department of Geography, University of Florida. He
has worked with comparative ecology and economics of wildlife and
livestock in rangelands, and is internationally recognised for his
research and management experience with co-management and community
based natural resource management (CBNRM) in Southern Africa.

Dr Ivan Bond will give a talk from 11:15 -12.00 on "Development of
Payments for Watershed Services (PWS)." Dr. Ivan Bond is a Senior
Researcher at IIED in London and a specialist on incentives for land and
natural resource management on common pool land. He is currently working
on co-ordinating an action-learning project to investigate payments for
watershed services and livelihoods in five countries. Over the last 2,5
years he has coordinated IIED's DFID funded project in Bolivia, China,
Indonesia, India, South Africa and the Caribbean.
