Evy Jørgensen
On 16 March the institutional agreement between UMB and Mekelle and Hawassa universities (Ethiopia) was renewed for the next five years. The documents were signed by Dr. Admasu Tsegaye (Hawassa University), Prof. Mitiku Haile (Mekelle University) and Prof. Knut Hove (Norwegian University of Life Sciences).
Institutional collaboration with the former Awassa College of Agriculture/Debub University and NLH (now UMB) started in 1989. Academic institutional collaboration with Mekelle University started in 1994. Several UMB departments have cooperation activities with the two universities. Noragric coordinates the institutional collaboration agreements with universities in the South and Eastern Europe on behalf of UMB. The academic institutional agreement with Hawassa and Mekelle universities is anchored in the Norway-Ethiopia agreement and is funded through the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ethiopia.
