New Master programme in International Relations kicks off

Joanna Boddens-Hosang

Thirty-eight students attended the first day of the introduction course on Wednesday 11 August.

The course has attracted students from different countries and different backgrounds. Programme coordinator Dr Stig Jarle Hansen sounds enthusiastic when he points out that “This makes the programme international indeed, as intended in the programme description: global topics and diverse disciplinary backgrounds of the students”.

The Master programme in International Relations is new at Noragric this autumn and has been developed in close collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) that will participate in teaching and supervision of students. Students will learn about international relations in terms of diplomacy, development and environmental sustainability. Compulsory courses include EDS325 Global Political Economy, EDS360 Conflicts and Development and EDS374 International Relations Theory. The option of field courses in Uganda and India in 2011 is also available.

The programme information brochure can be downloaded here.
