Noragric's new Head of Research

Joanna Boddens-Hosang

On November 1 Randi Kaarhus assumed the position as Head of Research at Noragric. She has been at Noragric since September 2001 and previously worked at the Norwegian Institute of Urban- and Regional Research (NIBR) and the Norwegian Embassy in Maputo, Mozambique.

Randi holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Oslo and has broad research experience from south-eastern Africa and Andean South America, but has also worked with research on community development in Norway. More generally, Randi’s research interests include the use of scientific knowledge in policy-making processes, power and empowerment, gender and food production, local – and indigenous – people’s rights to land and strategic natural resources, contested land rights, and in particular women’s rights to land in Africa.

Special fields of interest are furthermore research methodology, discourse analysis, and comparative research.
