Polar bear researcher Thor Larsen on Svalbard

Webmaster

Noragric’s Senior Researcher (who is also former Director of Noragric), Thor S. Larsen, recently returned to the island of Kong Karlsland on Svalbard to pick up where he left off as polar bear researcher in the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s.

Thor spent four weeks with researcher Øystein Overrein of the Norwegian Polar Institute surveying polar bear dens on the southwestern part of the island.

The Norwegian popular research website  gives the account (in Norwgian) here: http://www.forskning.no/artikler/2009/juni/222156 .
