Visiting scientist - Dr. Keshab Awasthi

Evy Jørgensen

Dr. Keshab Awasthi is associate professor in the Department of Watershed Management and Environment Sciences at Tribhuvan University, Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Nepal.


Dr. K. Awashi has a PhD. from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, 2004. He specializes in land degradation in Himalaya Mountains. He has published articles on land use change, soil erosion and soil quality. He is currently at UMB through EU funded Himalayan Degradation Project for writing scientific papers on land use changes and their effect on soil erosion and soil quality. His other interests include the carbon sequestration in the community-managed forests (soil and biomass) and its role in poverty alleviation, net carbon emission, and offset and carbon credit, monitoring land use, land cover changes using GIS, GPS, and RS techniques, and responsibility of geomorphometric parameters in soil erosion and land degradation.
