Workshop on Development under climate change: reshaping Norwegian development agenda

Venue and date: University of Oslo, Blindern, Georg Sverdrup's Hus (the Library) in Undervisningsrom 1. On January 26th, at 9:00-14:00.

This is an exploratory workshop that will bring together central actors within the fields of climate and development from academia and NGOs.

The organiser is Noragric (Department of International Environment and Development Studies) at UMB (Norwegian University of Life Sciences).


Programme:

1. Introduction - the need to shift the climate and development agenda in Norway:

- Sustainable adaptation (Siri Eriksen, UMB)
- Achieving leadership in climate responses (Karen O'Brien, UiO)
- Poverty and development  practice in a changing climate (Asuncion St. Claire, UiB)
- Sustainable adaptation and mitigation financing (Christopher Wright, SUM, UiO)

2. Discussion

3. Presentation of policy note (Andrei Marin/Siri Eriksen, UMB)

4. Comments to the policy note: Climate and development practice at WWF (Frank Sperling, WWF)

- Involving the practitioner community (Erling Kverndokk, Red Cross)
- Integrating climate in development projects (Gitte Motzfeldt, Utviklingsfondet)

5. Discussion - critical climate and development issues for Norway in a decade that matters.
