In addition to the structured time, the students are expected to work independently.

Prerequisites Approved Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from another place of study, approved Bachelor's degree in plant science or approved 3 year basic block in landscape architecture at UMB.
Recommended prerequisites From UMB: APL201, BUS100, LAA223, LAA215 or LAØ370, PHG215,or corresponding from another place of study.

Assessment methods Independent work, project assignments with final presentation, submission of complete folder in Classfronter.

Teaching methods The teaching method is mainly problem-based. Much emphasis will be put on cooperation between the students, the course teacher and external people of resources in the development of a broad understanding of management when it comes to landscape architecture and green areas, its use and values. Independent project work individually or in groups is an important part of the course.
Teaching support Continuous, individual supervision in relation to the work on project assignments.
Examiner The examiner participates in the question formulation for assignments, in midway reviews and in the final presentation, review and grading.
Entrance requirements Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)
Preferential right Students in the study programme Landscape Architecture, specialisation Management, and the study programme Plant Science, specialisation Green environment.

Emnet vil høsten 2011 søkes sammkjøres med deler av LAA 321.
   
Objective of course  

The students shall develop a broad understanding of professional and organisational challenges and solutions in the management of urban and semi-urban green areas. They shall be trained in evaluation of different principles for this management and interaction between private and public actors. The course shall provide basic knowledge for independent evaluations of principles and programmes for the management, including renovation of existing green areas to optimise management considerations.

   
Course contents  
Selfinstruction. Lectures and seminars can be organised. The students shall do exercise(s), individually and/or in groups, regarding management problems, policy e.a.There will be an individual and more extensive project assignment on analysis with different users and complex management considerations.
   
Syllabus  
Survey of magazine articles and other relevant literature will be discused with the students, according to the subject of the mainproject.
