Exams

Department of Academic Affairs

Here you can find information about how to register for an exam, the exam schedule, closing date for withdrawing an exam, where can you find the exam results, extended time for the exam, complaints about the result etc.

Teaching- and exam schedule
You'll find information about the teaching-schedules and exam schedules in Time Edit.
The dates for examination will appear at least two weeks before the period for examination. This same information will also be posted on Studentweb

How to register for an exam:
When you register for the semester on the Studentweb, you can also register for the exams that you want, by entering the codes for the subjects you are going to take. You need to confirm the date and type of exam.
If you have any problems with the subject codes, this may be because you entered a space between the letters and the numbers.

Individual facilitation
UMB will as far as possible strive to make necessary arrangements for students with disabilities or special needs, whether it is due to visual impairment, hearing impairment, reading and writing difficulties, asthma, allergies, anxiety, chronic illness or other reasons. This includes facilitation both during your study period and/or exams.

Where am I going take the exam?
You will find this on the Studentweb. By entering the Studentweb and open the link for ”Exam registrations”, you will see all the exams you are registered for, the date, time and room number for each exam.

Exam results
You will find the exam results on the Studentweb, as soon as the examination results are available. Examination results are normally available 3 weeks (15 working days) after the examination date.

Transcript
You can order a transcript at SiT. The transcipt can be ordered by using this Order form for Transcript or by visiting SiT in the Economy building.

Rules and regulations
Extended time/ special treatment: Students that because of health issues, need extended time for their exam, must apply to the Section for Academic Affairs within the closing date for exam registration. Documentation from a specialist is acquired. Students with special needs during the exam, for example because of a handicap, must contact the Section for Academic Affirs within the closing date for exam registration, to assess how the needs can be met. Documentation from a doctor, specialist or other expert is acquired.

3 attempts: You are allowed three attempts on the same exam. If you failed for the 3rd time, you can apply to Committee for Academic Affairs for an exemption for a 4th attempt. The best grade will count. The local grading system was until spring 2003 a numerical system. From Autumn 2003 it changed to a letter system. If the evaluation of the subject has gone from the numerical system to the letter system, the last grade will count.

Complaints about the exam result:
When you get the exam result, you have the right to complain within 3 weeks after the announcement of the grade. The complaint is to be sent to Dokumenttjensten, Postbox 5003, 1432 ÅS. After a second evaluation the grade may be raised or lowered and the new grade cannot be appealed.

Cheating on examinations
Cheating can have serious consequences for the student, and can lead to exclusion from UMB for up to one year. A student may also be deprived of the right to sit examinations at other universities and colleges in the same period. The examination in question will be annulled.
