Avoid delays in receiving your diploma certificate

Studieavdelingen

Are you completing a degree program at UMB this semester? If so, the Department of Academic Affairs recommends that you read the information below.

When will the diploma be issued
The degree is awarded and the diploma and Diploma Supplement (DS) are automatically printed when you meet the requirements of an approved education plan.

Which Language is the diploma issued in
The diploma certificates are issued in Norwegian, unless the program is entirely in English.

Name of the recipient of a diploma from UMB
The Department of Academic Affairs requests that you check on Studentweb to ensure that your name is correctly spelt in the system. The spelling of your name on StudentWeb will be reflected on your diploma. In order to rectify any typos, please contact the Student Information Centre (SiT).

How and where to send the diploma
The diploma certificate is ready for dispatch or collection from SiT approximately one to two weeks after issuance. If the certificates are sent by post, they will always be sent as a registered letter to your semester address. It is your responsibility to keep your semester address updated to ensure that you receive the diploma at your correct address.

- Diploma certificate for a Bachelor degree can generally be picked up at SiT. You must be able to show a valid photo identification in order to receive the certificate. If desired, you can request to have the diploma sent by post. If you prefer this, please send an e-mail to sit@umb.no with the postal address you want us to send the certificate as a registered letter to.

- Diploma certificate for a Master degree will generally be sent as a registered letter to your semester registered address. It is therefore your responsibility to keep this address up to date at all times. In general, post sent as a registered letter will be available for collection for up to 14 days at the local post office before it is returned to UMB. If you believe that you will not be present at the semester address when the diploma is sent out, you may have someone collect it from the post office with photo identification and authorization from you. Alternatively, if you wish, you can collect the diploma from SiT. To do this, please send an email to gull.hoyseth@umb.no, no later than one week after you have been awarded the degree.

New diploma
The original certificate and Diploma Supplement are issued only once and you are thus requested to take good care of your documents. If necessary, the Department of Academic Affairs can provide you with a certified copy of the diploma, and in very special cases you may be issued a duplicate.

If you find typos in the diploma, you will be issued a new certificate. If this is applies to you, please contact Gull Karin Høyseth (gull.hoyseth@umb.no) from the Academic Affairs department no later than one month after receiving the diploma. Please note that a new diploma will not be issued because of a change in your education plan or an improvement of grade in a subject included in the degree. A possible improvement of grade in a subject included in the degree will however, appear on a transcript of grades.

The Department of Academic Affairs would like to wish you goodluck in your (current) last semester at UMB.
