The week-long introduction programme will introduce you to UMB's lively student community and to those programmes and services that may help you as you arrive and settle down.


For the introduction programme we welcome:
- New exchange students
- New students in the English-taught Bachelor and Master programmes
- New international PhD students

12:00-13:00 Tour of the Norwegian Museum of Agriculture and ice-cream afterwards.

Collect your start-up packet (a light snack will be served)
- Remember to bring some form of official identification (passport)
9:00-10:00 Norwegian language lesson

Lebara (telecommunications company) will distribute free SIM cards to students outside TF building

Wednesday 8 August
Trip to Oslo, 8:00-19:30
8:00 Meet at the Ås train station at 8:10 at the latest.
The Oslo Pass tickets and lunch will be distributed at the train station.
The train leaves for Oslo at 8:34. In Oslo, we will visit:
- Nobel Peace Centre
- The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History
Lunch is provided when you receive the Oslo Pass. Dinner is on your own
 
 

Thursday 9 August
Location: Meet outside Pentagon, # 47
9:00-10:30 Tour of Pentagon
What to expect when living in Pentagon? Do you know where the light bulbs are if the lights go out?
Tour and practical information.

Location: Biotechnology Building (# 44) – Arabidopsis Auditorium
10-30-11:30 Norwegian language lesson
11:30-12:15 Lunch on your own
12:15-13:00 Mandatory Fire Safety course
13:00-13:30 Introduction to The Health Office in Ås municipality
A nurse from the Health Office will give a talk on health-services for youth
13:30-14:00 Tea break with the SiT staff
- Cake and refreshments will be served.

14:00-16:00 Lab Safety Course (Part II)



Friday 10 August

Sunday 12 August
Location: Ås Church (# 69)
10:30 Traditional Norwegian Church Service
Experience part of Norwegian culture - traditional church service translated to English Students from all religions are welcome! Coffee will be served after the service. 
 

 
Monday 13 August
The official welcome at your department. The introduction week at your institute begins. If you have not received the programme for this week or have questions, please contact the “faddersjef” for your institute.

- Student clubs and organisations at UMB will present themselves on this day.



Friday 17 August

12:45 Matriculation of the new Bachelor and Master Degree students,
- Dress up in your national dress.
- Make sure to come early and find your place.



Wednesday 22 August
Location: Economy Building (# 27) – Yellow Room (second floor)
13:00-15:30 Tuberculosis screening for all students from outside EU and North America
