The week-long introduction programme will introduce you to UMB's lively student community and to those programmes and services that may help you as you arrive and settle.

- New students in the English taught bachelor and master programmes
- New international PhD students

Students arrive

18:00 Grilling and Rummage Sale at Pentagon - buy used clothes
and kitchen equipment!
Sunday 7 August
Students arrive, some registration possible at TF building
12:00-13:00 Tour of the Norwegian Museum of Agriculture and ice cream
afterwards
13:00-17:00 Registration possible at TF building, bring passport and laptop
Monday 8 August
Location: Ceremonial Hall (Festsalen), Clock Building
8:00-9:00 Reception area to collect your start up packet
(a light snack will be served)
9:00-10:00 Norwegian language lesson
10:00-12:00 Official welcome by

funds to the university account(meet outside Samfunnet

14:00-15:00 Non-EU citizens: Collection of passports and passport
photos for those who must report to the police
(Applied for residence permits from an embassy abroad.)
15:00-16:00 EU-citizens: Computer room: Information about
registration for EU nationals
13:00-17:00 All students: Registration at TF building, student card and
laptop registration
16:00 - 17:00 Lebara (cell phone provider) will provide students free start up packets

9:00-10:00 Norwegian language lessons
10:00-12:00 Where to find info on academic matters on the internet
- Rules and Regulations, Student Information Centre

Wednesday 10 August
Trip to Oslo, 8:45-19:30
8:45 Meet at the Ås train station at 8:45 at the latest.
The Oslo Pass tickets will be distributed there.
The train leaves for Oslo at 9:07.
In Oslo, we will visit:
- Nobel Peace Centre
- The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History
- Lunch is provided while in Oslo
- Dinner on your own

18:48 Return by train from Oslo to Ås around 19:30

Saturday 13 August
10:00-13:00 Pick up your stamped passport and tax forms at SiT (Norwegian ID application)

18:00 BBQ party at Pentagon
Sunday 14 August
Location: Ås Church
Traditional Norwegian Church Service
11:00 Experience part of Norwegian culture - traditional church
service translated to English Students from all religions
are welcome! Coffee will be served after the service.
Monday 15 August
Official welcome at your department. The introduction week at your institute
begins. If you have not received the program for this week or have
questions, please contact the “faddersjef” for your institute.

and North America
