General Facts about the Inclusion Funds:
-UMB funds 150 000 NOK every year to the committee whereby 20 000Nok goes
to the International Students union (ISU) automatically.
-The committee is comprised of five members:
• The International Officer of NSU-Ås (leader)
• The Welfare Officer of NSU-Ås
• The Head of The Student Information Centre (SIT)
• The President of the International Students Union (ISU)
• The Arrangements Officer at Samfunnet
-The funds support integration within society’s and students at UMB.
The Inclusion funds committee have long criticized and questioned the
rules and application form used by applicants.
The committee argues that there were too many vague statements/words such
as the word “should” instead of the word “must”.
Other more obvious changes had to be made such as it was written that
applications had to be sent to the Welfare Officer when they should
actually be sent to the International Officer.
This lead the Inclusion funds Committee to make improvements in an attempt
to avoid confusion and ultimately less work for both applicants and for
the committee. A member of the Inclusion funds committee agreed it was
important that these changes were officially approved by an official
university association.
The changes were later sent to The Student Board whereby the International
Officer (Shaun Jack) noted that it was not entirely necessary to make the
rules approved at the Student Parliament because they were mostly
grammatical/translational changes, nothing of substantial change and
because we are not obligated to do so (The enclosure for the student
parliament does not state any binding procedure that changes have to be
approved by the Student Parliament)
The Student Board agreed to process the changes and approved them with the
exception to one change that the word “activities” would be changed to
“activities and/or initiatives”(activities/initiatives).
