OBS! VIKTIG! Barnehagedekning for studenter
StudentstyretÅS KOMMUNE SØKER OGSÅ INFORMASJON! The student board at UMB needs feedback from all students that currently needs their children in daycare. We need info regarding the enrolment admittance from the fall 2008, do you face any problems getting your children admitted?

Studentstyret trenger tilbakemelding fra studenter med barn om hvordan det har gått med opptaket til barnehagene for høsten 2008.
Regjeringen hadde full barnehagedekning som mål innen 2007. I følge barnehageloven § 8 har kommunen plikt til å sørge for at det finnes et tilstrekkelig antall barnehageplasser for barn under opplæringspliktig alder. 140 barn i Ås kommune står uten barnehageplass etter første opptak i 2008, noe som gjør Ås kommune til en versting på landsbasis.
Manglende barnehagetilbud i Ås får alvorlige konsekvenser for studenter med barn. De fleste studentene ved UMB er tilreisende, og bor derfor ikke i kommunen når fristen for å søke barnehageplass går ut. Disse barna stiller dermed bakerst i køen når barnehageplasser skal deles ut, og studentene risikerer å få barnehageplass med stor avstand til campus. Dette gjør UMB til et studiested hvor det er vanskelig å kombinere barn og studier.
UMB er ikke tjent med at studenter med barn ikke kan ta sjansen på å studere ved her. Ledelsen har derfor tilbudt Ås kommune tomt til bygging av barnehage, men foreløpig har ikke kommunen godtatt noen av tomteforslagene.
UMB har gitt deler av tomtearealet til Søråsteigen barnehage hvor har Ås kommune satt av syv plasser til førsteårsstudenter som ikke har mulighet til å søke om barnehageplass innen 1.mars.
Dette er ikke en holdbar situasjon, så vi i Studentstyret trenger informasjon fra deg som er student og forelder for bruk i dialog med kommunen. Send derfor en e-post til ingrid.ebne@student.umb.no hvor du svarer på følgende:

The Norwegian government sat a goal to achieve full coverage by 2008. In accordance with the legislation on kinder garden § 8 the municipality has the duty to provide all children under school age with a solution. 140 children in Ås are currently without a daycare alternative, which makes the municipality one of the worst in the country in respect of this subject.
A lack of options in daycare in Ås creates severe consequences for students that need their children in daycare. Most students at UMB come from outside the municipality when they are admitted to UMB. That means that when the deadline for admittance to daycare is due, the students are not yet resident and do therefore not apply in true. The children that falls in this category, falls in the back of the line when the children are admitted into daycare. This often results in that the students are given a place which is far away from their home and university. This creates a situation were it is difficult to combine father or motherhood with being a student.
UMB cannot be well served that students with children are marginalized and forgotten. The administration at UMB has therefore offered to dispose some land for building a kinder garden, but the municipality has not yet accepted any of the suggestions from UMB. UMB has given parts of their land to Sørgårdsteigen kinder garden were Ås municipality has put aside seven places for first years students who does not have the opportunity to apply before deadline 1st of march.
This is not a satisfying situation. Therefore ew in the student board need information from you as a student so we could get advantages in a discussion with the municipality. We would appreciate if you could e-mail us at Ingrid.ebne@student.umb.no and answer the following points:
