Scince 2007 UMB has received 19 students from European Master in Animal Breeding and Genetics (EM-ABG).

This semester we have seven students from Bangladesh, Bosnia Herzegovina, Etiopia, India, Serbia and Sri Lanka, divided in first year and second year master student. Fist year students will after spring semester move further to second university in Europe (one of six cooperating universities), while second year master student shall deliver their master thesis and receive their dobbel degree diploma in master in Animal Breeding and Genetics.

The EM-ABG course is supported by the Erasmus Mundus Programme of the European Union. Highly qualified applicants will be selected out from programme consortium for two years. Students will study at two different universities during two years, one year each.

Joint supervision - dobbel diploma
For master thesis, two supervisors from each of universities will guide the student through the thesis - joint supervision. This brings to dobbel diplomas from two universities.

UMB offers courses in kvantitative genetics and in molecular genetics. Our vision is to motivate students to be qualified in both disiplins who can bridge the gap between those two fields.

The cooperating univesites are:
* Wageningen University (WU)- The Netherlands, also co-ordinator for the programme
* University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) - Austria
* Christian-Albrechts-Universität (CAU) - Germany
* Agro ParisTech - France
* Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) - Sweden
* Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) - Norway
