Below you will find basic information about admission to the Bachelor, MSc & PhD programmes and for non-degree students (exchange students and free movers).
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
The minimum requirements for admission to higher education in Norway set by
NOKUT.
The requirements depend on the country in which you did your secondary education.
Documentation of English proficiency. For admission to non - degree or bachelor programme the following applies:- TOEFL test with a score of 500 or better for a paper-based test, 60 or better for an internet-based test.
- IELTS test with an overall band score of 5.0 or better.
For admission to a master programme or PhD programme the following applies:
- TOEFL: 550 on paper based test, 80 on Internet based test
- IELTS test with an overall band score of 6.0 or better.
Documentation of Norwegian proficiency, if applying for admission to a Norwegian language programme, can be documented by the Bergens test (Test i norsk - høyere nivå).

English language Bachelor programmeUMB has one English language bachelor programme:
International Environment and Development Studies Application deadline: - 1 December

English language Master of Science degree (MSc) Applicants must normally have obtained a First Degree / Bachelor's degree of at least 3 years duration, or equivalent, including courses equalling 2 years of full-time studies in a subject relevant to the programme.

Study Options.
At least 2nd Class, Upper Division or the equivalent is normally required to be included in the final selection for admission. In addition, applicants need to document English language proficiency (additional information above).

Application deadline for Norwegian citizens and EU/ European Economic Area citizens: - 1 June
