AQFood focuses on production of aquatic food throughout the entire production and food supply chain, linking primary production including aquaculture and wild catch with processing and distribution to the consumers in terms of quality and safety.

Contents of the programAquatic Food production – Safety and Quality (AQFood)
is a double degree master program, including mobility, offered by a consortium of five leading universities in the Nordic countries:
Technical University of Denmark (DTU)
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU)
University of Iceland (UoI)
Norwegian University of Life Science (UMB)
You start with the first year at one University and take the second year at another consortium University.
The first semester (30 ECTS) is equal for all essentially given as e-learning focusing on the entire aquatic value chain.
AQFood offers after this three possible study tracks:- Aquatic Production starting with first year at UMB
- Natural Resources (first year at NTNU)
- Industrial Production (first year at DTU)
The second year is used for specialization, for instance may students taking industrial production at DTU in the first year continue with product development in the second year at UMB.

Why study?The demand for aquatic food throughout the word is increasing, resulting in increased need for high qualified candidates in the entire aquatic food chain.
The growing aquatic food industry becomes more and more integrated, and individual companies are resents larger parts of the entire value chain.
This program is adapted to this development, giving knowledge on the entire chain with important interactions.
What will I learn?You will get knowledge of the entire value chain for aquatic food from fishery and aquaculture throughout processing, distribution until the product reach the consumer focusing on safety and quality, from sea to table.
This will give you the foundation, needed for a global understanding of the aquatic food production.
Admission requirementsA relevant bachelor or equivalent degree in life science or engineering.

TOEFL or
IELTS certificates must be original and sent to UMB from the test centre directly.
TOEFL: Paper-based: 580 (written section grade 4,5)
Computer-based test: 237 (essay writing grade 4,5)
Internet-based test: 92 (written section grade 22)
IELTS:6.5, no section lower than 5.5 (only IELTS Academic Training accepted).
English language test exemptions: Applicants who have completed a university degree instructed in English at a university that is physically located in one of the following countries:
USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand
Applicants who have completed at least a 3-year degree instructed in English in an EU/EEA country
Aplication deadlines:
15 January for International applicants
15 April for European and Nordic applicants
