All businesses need employees with qualifications in economics and administration. A Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration qualifies the graduate for a large range of jobs within administration, economic management and accounting. With this Bachelor\'s degree, the graduate will be qualified to work in both the public and private sector; within banking, finance and insurance. The graduate may work with economic management, budgeting, accounting or administration and leadership. Knowledge of economics, organisations and leadership might even be a useful supplement to other degrees and a condition for further career development. This degree can also qualify for a position as a teacher, when it is combined with pedagogical education.The degree qualifies for Master\'s degree studies in Business Administration, in Organisation Science and in Economics (depending on student\'s choice of elective courses in the Bachelor\'s degree). The degree also qualifies for mid-level positions in firms, organisations and public administration.

Admission requirements
Higher education entrance qualification. Sound knowledge of mathematics is an asset.

Internationalisation, studies abroad and exhange agreements
UMB School of Economics and Business has a significant number of international students. The number of courses taught in English has been increasing in recent years. The department hopes that this development will help to increase the number of foreign guest students at UMB School of Economics and Business.Students at UMB School of Economics and Business are encouraged to take parts of their bachelor\'s degree at a foreign university to facilitate academic and personal development. UMB and UMB School of Economics and Business have numerous agreements with recognised universities in all parts of the world. UMB School of Economics and Business also maintains extensive academic networks with international institutions and advisers. The Staff of UMB School of Economics and Business can help students find appropriate institutions abroad, independent of existing agreements. The bachelor\'s programme is designed to enable a study abroad period during one of the last two semesters.

Many of the courses in the programme are offered in English upon demand. Some are always taught in English.

Learning goals
A candidate who has completed the education is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes, defined in competence, knowledge and skills: Competence: - Has acquired broad insight into theory and methods within business economics and administration, and is able to apply methodological tools in making decisions in private businesses as well as the public sector and organizations. - Has the required basis to start studying for a masters degree in business economics and administration. - Is able to plan and conduct different work tasks and projects in economics, alone or together with others in a group; in accordance with ethical requirements and guidelines. Knowledge: - Has broad knowledge of central topics within the core subjects of businesss economics and administration according to national and international standards. - Has solid knowledge about basic models and methods within the core subjects in business economics and administration, i.e. finance and investments; financial and cost accounting, managerial economics; marketing; organizational theory and administrative science, as well as economics. - Has basic knowledge within philosophy, history of science and ethics. Skills: - Methodological skills: The candidate is able to navigate the relevant literature in the core subjects, define problem statements, and have some insight into how to apply theory and methods. - Analytical skills: The candidate is able to use economic models and methodological tools to understand business problems. - Dissemination skills: The candidate is able to present central theories, models, problem statements and solutions; both in writing and oral communication. - Work-related skills: The candidate is able to apply economic knowledge and relevant results from research and development on practical and theoretical problems, and make qualified decisions. - Ethical skills: The candidate can identify and relate to ethical issues and challenges in an adequate way.

Teaching and evaluation methods
A mixture of lectures, study groups, seminars, independent work, group work, excursions, assignments, presentations, computer-based learning and other methods are used throughout the entire programme.Both continuous assessment and final examinations are utilised in the programme, and these can include assessment of projects, presentation, large written work (semester assignments) and presentations, as well as school examinations and home examinations.

Programme content
The programme contains a compulsory portion of 135 ECTS that consists of courses within business economic analysis, administrative courses, mathematics and methodology courses, and Philosophy. In addition, the students will also choose an elective profile containing 45 ECTS. This study plan meets the requirements of the National Advisory of Business Administration (NRØA).

Spesialisation requirements
There are no further spesialisation requirements for those who meet the requirements concerning the compulsory courses in the programme.
