At UMB, PPU is based on the following principles: practice, experience, perception, participation, cooperation, development. Since the institutions/businesses we instruct teachers for are different, PPU relies on different and specific practices and approaches: individual and group-based assignments, project development, web-based meetings, and reflective assignments. ICT is used in meetings, mid-semester work, and placements. The final assessment consists of two oral examinations based on activities, one in scientific didactics in natural science and/or professional didactics in natural science, and the other in pedagogy. The students\' practical teaching is assessed by pass/fail. In addition, a continuous security assessment takes place during the whole course, according to the suitability regulation.

Programme content
The programme is organised as a combination of teaching in meetings, individual study (mid-semester work) and supervised placements. The meetings are built around integrating the courses scientific didactics in natural science, professional didactics in natural science and pedagogy. Supervised placements span over 12 weeks. See the Framework and the Scientific plan for PPU for more information.
