BIM for Landscape

Marius Berg Bostadløkken finished a Master study on the subject of BIM (Building Information Modelling) for Landscape.
By 2010 Statsbygg (Public Construction and Property Management Department in Norway) will demand the use of BIM in all their projects. This applies not only to buildings, but also the landscape around them. Being one of the biggest contractors in Norway this will to a great extent influence the business. A Master study by Marius Berg Bostadløkken under supervision of Ramzi Hassan completed at the Department of Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB).

This study examines the current situation around BIM for landscape, and if it is the right time to start using the new working methods. Through a review of the technological evolution towards BIM and today’s available software, as well as interviews with people from different parts of the business and a study of a BIM project involving landscape, the study provides an overview of the current status and the opportunities, benefits and challenges BIM provides.
