New Virtual Reality Project Funded by The World Bank

A virtual reality project proposal developed by Ramzi Hassan at UMB (ILP) for Birzeit University in Palestine, won a grant of 346,000 US dollars from the World Bank (Quality Improvement Fund: QIF).

The development and implementation of Virtual Reality (VR) systems for documenting historically important landscapes in Palestine. A cooperation project between Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) and Birzeit University in Palestine. Project starts December 2007.
This is a joint project among historians, planners, architects, engineers, technicians and computer-aided design (CAD) researchers to preserve historical vidences of Palestine by using computer visual simulation and Virtual Reality technology. The goal is to build a new Virtual Reality Unit and develop digital models and scenes, which can be used for historical and urban studies.
This is a 3D virtual model for a historical site in Birzeit town in Palestine. This model is available at YouTube.com.
